Why developers choose Foliox License

There are several good licensing services. Here is what Foliox License does differently, how it compares on the points that matter, and when another service is the better fit.

The short version

  • A free plan you can actually ship with: 10 products, signed checks, all four SDKs, a customer check page and automatic customer e-mails — no card, no trial clock.
  • Keys that fit how people really work: lock a key to one computer, allow up to 3, 5 or 15 devices per key on paid plans, or make it a public key that a whole team or free tier can share.
  • Every answer is signed: Ed25519 on every activate/verify answer — refusals too — so a fake local server cannot make your app think a key is valid.
  • Your customers are looked after: they get their key by e-mail, a reminder before it expires, and a page to check it or ask for a device reset.
  • Small prices, simple plans: paid plans start at $4 a month; license checks are never metered.
  • Pay how you like: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), cards, netbanking or cryptocurrency.

Other services’ details were checked on their own pricing pages on 2 October 2026 and may have changed since. Foliox License is independent and not affiliated with any of them — tell us if anything here is out of date.

Built so your software keeps working

  • A license API that never changes shape. Every release is checked against every existing key before it goes live, so an app you shipped last year keeps working.
  • Offline grace. The SDKs keep your app running for up to 72 hours from the last signed “valid” answer if the service cannot be reached — and the cache cannot be edited by hand.
  • Devices are never cut off by surprise. If a plan lapses, devices already using a key keep working; only new ones wait for an upgrade.
  • Four maintained SDKs — Python, Node.js, Go and Rust — plus a plain REST API for anything else.

When another service fits better

  • KeyAuth if you need end-user accounts with usernames and passwords, file hosting, chatrooms or seller bots, or ready-made C# and C++ examples.
  • Keygen if you want to self-host, need concurrent “floating” licences, or want release and file distribution built into your licensing.
  • Devolens if you are a larger company that needs EU data residency, SSO and a contractual SLA.

If you sell a tool, bot or desktop app and want keys, devices, customer e-mails and signed checks working this afternoon, Foliox License is built for you — see the detailed KeyAuth comparison or start free.

FAQ

Common questions

Is Foliox License really free to start?

Yes. The Free plan needs no card and has no trial clock. Paid plans add more keys, more devices per key, larger public keys, device resets and insights.

How many devices can one key be used on?

One on the Free plan. On paid plans you choose per key: up to 3 on Starter, 5 on Pro and 15 on Business. Public keys are shared by design — up to 10 devices on Free, 100 on Starter, 1,000 on Pro and without a limit on Business.

Can I move from another licensing service?

Yes. Create replacement keys in bulk with the automation API and pass each customer’s e-mail address — they receive their new key automatically.

Ready to license your software?

Create a free account, generate your first keys and drop in an SDK — it takes a few minutes.
